December, 2007
We lost a week due to crane repairs. Rather
costly, but worth it to keep our fine piece of equipment in tip-top
shape. If you will be building a hurricane proof home on the Gulf Coast
in the near future, please contact us about our LinkBelt 22 ton
crane.
Dec. 12, 2007....our crane is back in
operation. Mike and Don of New Stone Age Builders hail from S.E. Texas
where they gained knowledge of big construction equipment. Some of our
Link Belt crane's parts had to go to Robertsdale, AL to a specialty
repair place but were re-installed right here by Mike and crew.
Even with occasional repairs, it sure makes sense to buy a crane for the
project rather than rent. We have seen 2 cranes exactly like ours but
older year models for sale for a great deal more than our cost, so we
feel confident we will be able to sell it at a fair price and still
cover our costs of use.
We are still having fabulous weather.
Today was in the high seventies. Wonder when winter will begin ?
We are in discussions with Dan
Armstrong of Magnum Building Products
about using MagnumŽ Board as a gypsum board alternative.
We do not want to use any Sheetrock or gypsum board in this home and our
timing may be perfect to have access to this technologically advanced building material that offers superior performance in every category when compared to traditional wood, gypsum and cement based products.
If we get wet during a fierce storm, we believe that our MagnumŽ Board
will have been an excellent investment. It will not collapse and dump
moisture on all a room's furnishings as we have seen so many times on
this coast. The MagnumŽ Board will simply dry out, all the while
holding its shape and properties. Magnum Board is virtually impervious to fire, water, insects; does not feed mold or mildew and is completely non-toxic.
Installs and finishes like products being used in the similar applications today.
Dan is studying our plans to determine
which particular magnesium oxide board will be needed in each
application....walls, ceilings, sub flooring. When building a hurricane
proof home it is wise to consider substitutes for gypsum board. See all
the info I have compiled on Magnesium Oxide building material suppliers.

It was great to see our crane back in action this week.

Sure gets dark early in mid-winter. Photo
